Attorneys Gary Springstead and Mike Bartish have been named Super Lawyers in 2017, by Super Lawyers magazine. Attorneys are selected based on peer nominations, professional achievements, practice area, and peer reviews. Less than 5% of attorneys in the State of Michigan earn this prestigious designation, according to Super Lawyers.
Springstead and Bartish began practicing together in 2011, forming a law firm dedicated almost exclusively to criminal defense. Both attorneys practice in state and federal courts throughout Michigan and have been involved in numerous high-profile cases throughout their careers.
Mr. Springstead began his career at the F.B.I. in 1998 as a Presidential Management Fellow and eventually became an F.B.I. Special Agent in 2000. As an F.B.I. Agent for nearly five years, he investigated and assisted in the prosecution of a broad range of federal crimes from sophisticated white collar crimes to violent crimes, terrorism and national security matters. This included investigating several high-profile cases in the United States and abroad.
Perhaps most importantly, Mr. Springstead met his future wife, Attorney Kathy Springstead, at the F.B.I., where she too was an F.B.I. Agent in Washington, D.C. Gary and Kathy still enjoy working together at Springstead Bartish & Borgula Law and, when they aren’t working, raising their two boys in Gary’s hometown of Fremont, Michigan.
Attorney Mike Bartish began his career as an active-duty J.A.G. Attorney for the Army in 1999. Although Mr. Bartish left active-duty 2002, he still serves his country as a Lt. Col. in the Army Reserves. Mr. Bartish met his wife, Anne Bartish, in law school. They live in Rockford, Michigan, and stay busy raising four kids together.
Springstead and Bartish are both founding Partners in Springstead Bartish & Borgula Law, P.L.L.C., which features a former active-duty J.A.G. attorney (Mike Bartish), two former F.B.I. Special Agents (Gary Springstead and Kathy Springstead), two former federal prosecutors (Matthew Borgula and Heath Lynch), and the former U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan (Don Davis).
